Une lentille du ménisque est une lentille à deux surfaces sphériques, convexe d'un côté et concave de l'autre. L'objectif fournit un diamètre de faisceau plus petit pour réduire les déchets de faisceau et l'aberration sphérique. Lorsqu'un ménisque est combiné avec une autre lentille, la distance focale est raccourcie et l'ouverture numérique du système est augmentée. Cela réduit la distorsion de l'image et améliore la résolution de l'image.
There are two types of meniscus lenses:
● Lentille positive du ménisque
La lentille positive du ménisque est utilisée pour les applications nécessitant un petit nombre focal (moins de 2,5). Pour les focales comprises entre 2,5 et 10, une lentille du ménisque minimise la taille du spot et améliore la qualité de l'image. La courbure latérale concave d'une lentille positive est plus petite et la courbure latérale convexe est plus grande.

● Lentille négative du ménisque
La lentille négative du ménisque est utilisée pour les applications utilisant des matériaux infrarouges avec un indice de réfraction élevé. Ces lentilles servent de substituts à d'autres lentilles négatives par une plus grande courbure du côté concave et moins de courbure du côté convexe. Ils sont utilisés dans des applications d'étalement du faisceau où une aberration sphérique minimale est nécessaire.
